WCW Underground 2.15

- Previously on WCW Underground: The Midnight Guns delivered their tag finisher, Cyanide & Happiness (a double stomp/Kryptonite Krunch-combo), on Jay Briscoe. The move was executed with Tyler Black jumping off the ring apron and Moxley driving Jay into the concrete floor outside the ring. Jay was taken out of the arena by paramedics.

- Opening video.

- Lenny Leonard and JML are at the commentary booth. The lights are dimmer than usual. The crowd is, for a change, not going wild. Lenny uses the solemn voice, discussing what happened last week. He says that Jay Briscoe suffered a devastating neck injury and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. JML goes on a rant about how the Guns went too far with what they did last week and deserve punishment. Lenny tells him that the executive office is not acting on it since it happened during a match, which doesn't please JML. Lenny then turns to Superbrawl, which is a little over a week away. He runs down the card and talks about the major matches, focusing on Chris Hero's rise to the title match. That perfectly segues into the opening match.

Match #1: Chris Hero vs. Jay Hurley
Chris Hero is scheduled to face Chris Jericho at Superbrawl, so this is a warm-up. Chris Hero got their by picking up a strong series of wins, capping it off with a decisive victory over his rival Davey Richards. Hurley gets, literally, no offense in the match. Hero hits him with about every strike in his repertoire. Flash Kick, senton, elbow strike, jumping elbow strike, running boot, roaring elbow, etc. He finishes Hurley off with the Deathblow.

Result: Chris Hero wins via pin w/ The Deathblow
Time: 4:52

- Hero walks over to the commentary table for an interview. Lenny says that Hero is looking strong as he heads into Superbrawl to take on Chris Jericho. Lenny points out that Chris Jericho has not been pinned nor submitted in WCW since his debut. Hero says that does bother him in the slightest because when you look at Chris Jericho and who he's fought, you come up with a whole lot of nothing. Hero says the only man of any relevance that Jericho has beaten is Alberto Dos Caras and that Jericho had to cheat do it. Lenny points out that Jericho has beaten both Mark and Jay Briscoe. Hero says that beating two dumb rednecks doesn't amount to whole damn lot in pro wrestling. Lenny says he doesn't agree with that and that the Briscoes offered some of the toughest competition Jericho has had to date. Hero says it doesn't matter what Lenny thinks. He says all that matters is that at Superbrawl on April 28, Jericho will be fighting a man unlike he's ever fought before. Hero says he's knocked out Brent Albright, Davey Richards, Windham Rotunda, and the list goes on and on and on. Hero says every man he's ever fought has, at one time or another, gotten knocked the hell out. He says that Chris Jericho is a pretty good wrestler but that he (Hero) is a damn great fighter. Hero says at Superbrawl Jericho is going to be presented with a multiple choice question and the possible answers are a - get knocked out, b - get knocked out, and c - get knocked out. Hero says, "Choose wisely." Great promo!

- Windham Rotunda is at the commentary position for an interview. Lenny asks Windham how he's feeling. Windham says right now everything is great in the world because he gets an opportunity to knock that pretty boy Chris Masterson on his ass at Superbrawl. He says Chris Masterson can come out and flex his muscles all day long, but on April 28 they're not having a posedown - they're having a fight. Windham says that Masterson likes to make fun of him for being a bit pudgy. He says that's OK, he (Windham) likes his beer and he enjoys his ribs like any man, which is why Masterson doesn't understand it - because any guy who rubs themselves down with baby oil before walking out the curtain sure as hell ain't a man~!

Match #2: Michael Cannon/Lee Roy vs. Fastball Special
Lenny comments on the victories Fastball Special has been putting together recently. Lenny thinks with the momentum they have, they may petition for a tag team title match. JML thinks the Old School Wrecking Crew are more deserving. Generico and London are polite with Cannon and Roy, but this is just a squash. They get in some of their usual stuff, including the double dropkick which Lenny calls an homage to Rock 'n' Roll Express. Generico plants Roy with the brainbuster and London drops on him (Roy) with the Shooting Star Press for the win.

Result: Fastball Special win via pin w/ the brainbuster/Shooting Star Press-combo
Time: 4:34

- Fastball Special approach the commentary table for their interview. Lenny brings up their string of victories and asks if their gearing for a match against the winner of DOOMSDAY and Bad Intentions at Superbrawl. London says, "Your algebraic equation brings a certain logic to what you're saying Leonard Leonard. Make no mistake about it - Mexico's Greatest and the London Warrior are making a play for the golden glory that comes with the WCW Tag Team Championship. Whether it be the Bruiser Brodies from Japan or the Stan Hansens from right here in the good old U S of A, we want to be next in the line of destiny brother. We'll come together like ants on an apple and we'll take those belts from around their FREAKING waists - which are quite large I might add." Lenny is about to follow up, but he's interrupted by Steve Corino and Adam Pearce. Pearce wants to know why in the world would Fastball Special even merit a title match. He says they've already gotten one and they failed (a valid point). Adam says if anyone deserves a match, they (he & Corino) do. Corino says when they arrived on day one that the people in the back had one vision for them - being the guys that big names beat up. He says that didn't fly and now they've teamed up and become just as unstoppable as DOOMSDAY seeing as they're the only other tag team in WCW that are undefeated. This brings out the Assistant to the Executive Director who says he's heard both petitions and announces that Fastball Special will take on the Old School Wrecking Crew at Superbrawl in a Top Contenders Match. Pearce says that's a bunch of b.s., but if they have to jump through another hurdle then what the hell. Corino says they should send another team out so they (he & Pearce) can show Fastball Special just what exactly is going to happen on April 28. GREAT segment!

Match #3: Bric Bradley/Steven Styles vs. The Old School Wrecking Crew
Another tag squash. JML spends the match ranting on how it's unfair that the OSWC have to go through yet another team to get a match for the tag team championship. Corino and Pearce pick apart newcomers Bradley and Styles in Ole/Arn-fashion, working the neck over of either man like monsters. They finish Styles off with the Spiked Piledriver.

Result: The Old School Wrecking Crew win via pin w/ The Spiked Piledriver
Time: 4:35

- Alberto Dos Caras comes out for an interview. Lenny asks him where he came up with this crazy idea that The Patriot is Kurt Angle. Alberto shoves him away and takes the mic. He says that he knows the rest of world thinks it's funny that Kurt Angle has connived his way back into WCW. He says this is exactly like America, to forgive those who have committed crimes and condemn those who have done nothing wrong. Alberto compares Kurt Angle to people like Michael Vick and Chris Brown who have done horrible things and gotten away with it. He says Kurt Angle is trying to cheat his way into WCW despite having lost a match against Alberto that sent Angle packing. The crowd is booing like crazy. Alberto says all of the fans in here are treating him unjustly and then he compares himself to Casey Anthony! That prompts quite the heated reaction. He says that no one in the building can prove she did anything wrong, just like they boo him for reasons they can't explain - but they're more than happy to forgive the Kurt Angles and Michael Vicks of the world. He tosses the mic on the table and walks off. HEATED segment, probably did more to get him a heat than anything he's done in WCW so far.

- Brodie Lee is out for an interview. Lenny asks him how he can sleep at night after what he did to the Necro Butcher. Brodie says it only takes three beers. He says people look at him a little differently now after what he did to Necro. He says when he walks into a bar things get a little quiet and the mood shifts a bit. He says that's OK though because he likes that uneasiness. Brodie says fear of a man is a weakness in a lot of people, but it's not a weakness in him. He says last night he was at a bar and a man walked up to him and told he ought not done what he did to Necro Butcher because when he (Necro) comes back, he (Brodie) will pay for it. Brodie says he's ready for that and that he doesn't fear Necro. Lenny asks what he told the man in the bar. Brodie says: "I broke my beer bottle on his face." Brodie leaves on that note.

Match #4: The Cross vs. Zac Edwards/Taylor McKnight
Lenny talks about The Cross screwing WGTT out of their title match a month ago. The Cross do their usual bit, squashing the jobbers. Claudio busts out the UFO at one point, which is always a treat. Edwards gets nailed with Blitzkreig to give The Cross the victory.

Result: The Cross win via pin w/ Blitzkreig
Time: 4:22

- The Cross grab McKnight and put him in position for Blitzkreig, but WGTT make the save. Claudio escapes, but Ares isn't so lucky. They work him over a bit before nailing Ares with the modified Hart Attack they've been using as a finisher.

The Event Center
This week's segment starts off with Mike Hogewood talking to Joey Ryan and Brian Kendrick. Hogewood asks them why they did what they did to Austin Aries. Joey says that Aries was a little too full of himself and they were tired of playing second fiddle to the has-been. Hogewood asks them what their plans are for the future and if they'll still team together. Kendrick says that he and Joey go back a good ways and they're going to be future WCW tag team champions. Hogewood asks what they'll do about being called Three Kings. Joey says he hated that name from the start and it was always one of Aries' ideas. Kendrick says from here on out you can call them the Hollywood Kings. Weak promo, overall, but it did establish their new name. Next Hogewood plays a hype video for Bad Intentions. It shows them working out, both in a gym and the ring, with clips of them speaking mixed in throughout. It's like a UFC-video in that respect. Good stuff to hype the match and, really, this might be the best hyped main event yet.

Main Event: Drew Gallows vs. Davey Richards
Lenny talks about the current Davey Richards/CM Punk-rivalry for much of the match. Drew overpowers Davey to start, naturally. The match almost plays out like Vader vs. Sting, with Drew constantly overpowering Davey and Davey trying to outsmart Drew with kicks and quick moves. Early on they end up outside, as is the norm it seems for these main events, and Drew ends up crotched on the guardrail after missing a running boot. That allows Davey to start attacking the leg, which becomes the focal point of his attack. Davey doesn't maintain control for long as Drew overpowers him again. They end up back in the ring and Drew slows things down and work Davey's back over. It goes like this for a good while, with Drew nailing big moves (sidewalk slam, etc.) and then following up with a back-submission (Boston Crab). The big comeback spot for Davey comes when Drew goes for a superplex, but Davey slides under him and kicks at the weak leg. Then Davey hits the pop-up German suplex which is one hell of a visual considering how big Drew is. They do the extended ten count spot with both men getting up at around eight. Instead of trading strikes, Davey keeps striking Drew and ducking everything Drew throws at him, culminating in the handspring backflip spinning kick and the crowd is going nuts! This is probably the best reactions Davey has ever gotten. Davey goes for the DR Driver, but his back hurts too much which ends up getting him nailed with a clothesline. Drew goes for the power bomb but his leg gives out~! PSYCHOLOGY~! Davey tries a series of quick pin attempts but doesn't get any because Drew is too powerful. CM Punk comes out and causes a distraction which allows Drew to get a quick pin but Davey kicks out. Davey hits another series of strikes that pretty much finish Drew off but he still kicks out. Punk distracts the ref when Davey hits a VICIOUS roundhouse kick to Drew which would get him the pin if the ref was paying attention. Davey argues with the ref while Punk slides in some brass knux for Drew. Drew comes close to nailing Davey, but the ref catches the arm and then argues with Drew about the knux. Punk cheapshots Punk from behind and Drew finally power bombs him for the HUGE upset win (if you ask me).

Result: Drew Gallows wins via pin w/ a power bomb
Time: 15:43

- CM Punk and Drew Gallows try to continue their assault, but Eddie Edwards makes the save with a steel chair. Lenny announces that next week will have a HUGE main event as Windham Rotunda & The Patriot & Eddie Edwards will team up to take on Chris Masteron & Alberto Dos Caras & Brent Albright in the final episode of Underground before Superbrawl. The show ends on that note.
