WCW Underground 1.07
- A video package recaps the heated Fastball Special/The Cross feud.
- Standard video package opens the show.
- Chris Jericho is at the commentary table with Lenny Leonard and JML. Jericho talks about the six-man tag match at the iPPV. He says that it will be the platform for Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards to ascend to the top of the card. He says his goal isn't to steal the show, but to give them the arena to do so themselves. He says guys like Alberto Dos Caras have based their careers around not letting other guys get a shot at the big time and Jericho won't stand for that. He says Dos Caras' actions as World champion are indicative of someone who isn't a man. Good enough promo.
Match #1: DOOMSDAY vs. Caleb Konley/Sal Rinauro - 1st Round WCW Tag Team Champion Tournament Match
Jimmy Jacobs comes out with DOOMSDAY. He's decked out in a white-suit with a red tie. It looks stylish. Squash match, of course. It ends relatively quickly with the Omega Driver and advance in the tournament.
Result: DOOMSDAY wins via pin w/ The Omega Driver
Time: 1:34
- Jacobs brings DOOMSDAY to the commentary table. Jacobs says his name is "James" Jacobs, so Jimmy is out. He calls himself the "Mastermind of the Maelstrom" and the "Architect of Armageddon." He says that DOOMSDAY is more than just a tag team, but an unstoppable force of destruction that will not stop demolishing their opponents until they are champions. He puts the rest of the tag division on notice, DOOMSDAY are done playing games with guys like Caleb Konley and Sal Rinauro.
- A commercial plays for the Lou Thesz Memorial Tournament DVD.
- A commercial plays hyping the Halloween Havoc iPPV.
- A video package recaps the Brent Albright/Chris Hero confrontation from last week.
Match #2: Brent Albright vs. Drew Adler
Albright dominates easily, overpowering Adler from the start with slams and suplexes. He tosses Adler around some more and finally locks in the Crowbar for the submission victory.
Result: Brent Albright wins via submission w/ The Crowbar
Time: 4:52
- Albright approaches the commentary table for a promo. He calls himself a submission expert. He says Hero has some deadly strikes, but whenever the Crowbar gets locked on - somebody is going to tap. JML brings up Hero knocking Albright out on iPPV at the LTMT, but Albright counters that Hero can't do it again. Albright promises at the iPPV that Hero will either tap out, or walk out with a broken arm.
- Before we can cut to break, Alberto Dos Caras comes out and he is livid. He says he's pissed about what Jericho said at the beginning of the show and the fact that Jericho had the gall to question his manhood. Caras says that the only men that will be standing in the ring at Halloween Havoc will be him and Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team. Caras says that Jericho talks a good game about looking out for others, but he knows for a fact that Jericho put a lot of effort into holding back Sal Rinauro from being in the main event of Halloween Havoc.
- A commercial plays for WCWwrestling.com, hyping up all the features that come with the web site.
- A commercial plays for, of all things, Batman: Arkham City.
- A video package recaps the heated Necro Butcher/CM Punk feud.
Match #3: Michael Shane vs. CM Punk
Wow, where's they drag Michael Shane out from? Punk works him over good, out-wrestling and out-striking him. Punk hits a bulldog and picks Shane's head up at two. Punk yells that the fans are all losers like this guy. Punk works him over some more but then Shane catches him with an inside cradle for two. Crowd starts going crazy for Shane and he mounts a pretty good babyface comeback. Shane nails Punk with a sick superkick but it only gets two. Punk turns back the tide with a well-timed clothesline and finally hits Go 2 Sleep to get the win.
Result: CM Punk wins via pin w/ Go 2 Sleep
Time: 7:11
- Punk hits the commentary table, climbs up on it, and sits down Indian-style. Punk says that last a homeless man challenged him to a Falls Count Anywhere match. Punk says that it's not really fair since a homeless man will always have the advantage in that type of match, given that a homeless man lives anywhere he can find a place to crawl up into and hide. Punk says the Necro Butcher represents the degradation of society. Punk says he takes back what he said about calling Butcher a "homeless man," because that would be an insult to homeless men. He says the Butcher is never amounted to anything in his 13-year career and he won't start any time soon. He says if Butcher wants the FCA match, then fine, he can have it. Punk says he's beaten Butcher to a bloody pulp before, but this is different. He says he knows he's stepping into Butcher's territory by accepting this challenge. He talks about how Butcher has been in matches with barbed-wire and light-tubes. He says that this style of wrestling is disgusting and does nothing but give the talking heads on FOX news something to, rightfully, complain about when it comes to the sport he loves. But in order to abolish it, Punk will fight in it to show the world just how much of a degenerate Butcher is. He walks off and JML calls him delusional. Great promo from Punk.
- A promo hypes up next week's show which will have a special double main event: Shelton Benjamin vs. Eddie Edwards and Charlie Haas vs. Davey Richards.
Main Event: The Cross vs. Fastball Special - 1st Round WCW Tag Team Champion Tournament Match
Leonard goes over the detailed history between these two, bringing up that the Cross attacked Fastball Special at the LTMT iPPV. Fastball Special quickly clean house and send the Cross scurrying. Ares starts out with London and before you know it, heel tactics take place and Paul London becomes the beloved face-in-peril. Castagnoli and Ares take turns tagging in and out to work London over, focusing on his shoulder. London makes a blind tag at one occasion but the ref won't allow it. The crowd gets increasingly hotter with each tag attempt. London finally manages to counter a Castagnoli pop-up European uppercut with a dropkick and make the hot tag. Generico cleans house and hits Ares with a brainbuster for two, with Castagnoli making the save. London and Generico double dropkick Castagnoli out of the ring, and then London dives onto Castagnoli on the outside. This distraction allows Ares to attack Generico from behind and, wouldn't you know it, Generico ends up in the Ricky Morton-role. They really take their time working over Generico and sucking the crowd in. They use every trick in the book to cheapshot him and prevent the tag. The big heat spot comes with Ares whips Generico into the ropes and Generico responds with a huge Yakuza Kick out of nowhere. Generico makes the hot tag and the crowd comes unglued! London beats on everyone and then the big tag moves starting going into effect. Generico backdrops London onto Ares, London whips Generico into Castagnoli with a Yakuza kick, etc. Ares tries to sneak attack London, but London sends him to the outside. Generico dives out of the ring onto him. Castagnoli catches London with the bicycle kick and goes for the Ricola Bomb, but London rolls through with a sunset flip and gets the big win to advance in the tournament!
Result: Fastball Special win via pin w/ a sunset flip
Time: 25:22
- The crowd is going nuts for that result. London and Generico celebrate in the ring as the show comes to a close.
