WCW Underground 1.03

- Show opens with the latest bit of drama in the ongoing saga involving Davey Richards, Kurt Angle, and Alberto Dos Caras.

- Normal video package to open the show plays.

- We kick off with Adam Pearce in the ring and Davey Richards making his way to it.

Match #1: Adam Pearce vs. Davey Richards
Glorified squash to continue the Davey Richards-push. Adam doesn't even get in his heel-offense. Davey destroys Pearce with various kicks and finishes off the squash with the DR Driver (double underhook brainbuster).

Result: Davey Richards wins via pin w/ the DR Driver (double underhook brainbuster)
Time: 5:34

- Lenny calls Davey to the broadcast table. Davey says that for the past week he and Eddie have been going through boot-camp under Kurt Angle and all it's doing is turning him into a better athlete. He says tonight he was able to give the fans a look at that. Alberto comes out and questions whether Davey is tall enough to ride the Superman-ride at Six Flags. They almost come to blows, but out comes Kurt Angle and Eddie Edwards. Dos Caras calls them a group of bullies who try to outnumber people, but then he throws down a challenge: Team Angle vs. Alberto Dos Caras and two partners of his choosing. The three quickly agree to the match. Alberto sneers as if having pulled a fast one and walks off.

- A commercial plays hyping the Lou Thesz Memorial Tournament DVD, which can be purchased on WCWwrestling.com.

- A video package recaps the brawl between CM Punk and Necro Butcher last week.

Match #2: Caleb Konley vs. CM Punk
Not surprisingly, the result is another squash. Punk bullies Konley around the ring. Konley mounts a comeback, briefly, but Punk curt-tails it and the end result is a Go 2 Sleep for the Punk-win.

Result: CM Punk wins via pin w/ Go 2 Sleep
Time: 4:53

- CM Punk hits the broadcast table, uninvited, to cut a promo. He actually sits on the table to cut the promo. The crowd responds positively to him, remnants of the face-turn he had in WWE before leaving. Punk talks about how he hasn't really had an opportunity to sit down and just talk. He goes on a rant about how WWE has all but killed pro wrestling. He talks Vince McMahon's big-man fetish and Triple H's ego-driven fear of looking like crap on-screen. CM Punk says the worst part is that no matter how bad it is, the idiots in the crowd here and there and everywhere else encourages the crap Vince McMahon slings. He says that the fans buy the tickets and the PPVs for the Randy Ortons and the John Cenas. He left WWE to get away from that mindset, but here he is in WCW and the fans are ranting and raving about a guy who glorifies the idea of smoking pot and drinking beer. He says they're the same type of fans who glorify someone with no talent like John Cena. He says what's worse is that Necro is probably the worst wrestler on the face of the planet. He claims that Necro's biggest claims to fame were jumping on light-tubes and talking about a stapler with Mickey Rourke. He calls Necro a garbage wrestler, someone who doesn't really do anything but use weapons and bleed. He says Necro can't fathom how to lock in a wrist-lock, but if you need practice on swinging a light-tube - he's your man! The crowd pops for that and CM Punk calls them on it, saying they encourage that "backyard wrestling bullshit." CM Punk says that he is the Straight-edge Messiah and that not only will he do his part to rid the world of the addiction to drugs and alcohol, but the addiction to "shitty wrestling" like WWE or Necro Butcher. CM Punk leaves at that point. All-in-all it was a roughly 20-minute segment and one of the greatest promos of the year.

- A video package plays hyping up Paul London and El Generico, better known as the independent wrestling tag team cult-sensation: Fastball Special.

Match #3: Michael Cannon/Lee Roy vs. Fastball Special
Squash is the name of the game, again, as it's becoming clear the point of tonight's episode is either establishing or solidifying WCW characters. We get to see all of the El Generico trademarks (Michinoku Driver, Big Boot in the Corner, etc.) and Paul London dazzles the crowd with a few over-the-top dives. Finish comes when Generico hits Cannon with a brainbuster and London flies off the turnbuckle onto him with a beautiful Shooting Star Press.

Result: Fastball Special wins via pin w/ the Brainbuster/Shooting Star Press combo
Time: 4:11

- Paul London and El Generico, as has become the norm, approach the broadcast table. London goes into one of his crazy rants about generally nothing. He ends with saying the Cross will get crossed out.

- Another commercial for the Lou Thesz Memorial Tournament DVD plays.

- Austin Aries comes out in a nice suit alongside California-natives Joey Ryan and Brian Kendrick. Austin Aries gets right in JML's face right off the bat. Aries takes a mic and complains about how he had a nice, cushy job and all of sudden the fat Texan took it from him. Aries has no complaints because he's used to that kind of bullshit. Aries says that type of bullshit ends now. Aries claims he, and his partners, are three of the greatest this business has ever known. He says that they are three kings of the industry. He then solidifies the name, saying from here on out you can refer to us as "The Three Kings." He says when it comes to tag team wrestling, they do what they want and when they want. He brings out two jobbers and tells them to get in the ring. He specifically mentions that they don't even get names. He says tonight, he'll be the odd man out and let Kendrick and Ryan show the world what greatness truly is.

Match #4: Three Kings (Brian Kendrick/Joey Ryan) vs. ????/????
Like you need me to tell you. They brutalize the poor jobbers. Brian Kendrick hits the Sliced Bread on one, while Joey Ryan hits a Pedigree on the other. They utilize a lot of cool tag team moves (dropkick to the knee by Ryan while Brian Kendrick simultaneously dropkicks the back of the head). Finish sees Ryan hoist a jobber up and Kendrick DDTs him into the mat - basically the Snapshot-finish from MNM.

Result: Three Kings win via pin w/ an elevated DDT
Time: 5:02

- Aries brags about the win and says next week they might be in action again and this time it might be Aries and Kendrick or it might be Aries and Ryan. So, basically, Freebird-rule.

- Lenny and JML talk about the ongoing issue with Dos Caras and Team Angle. Lenny formally announces an iPPV air-date set for 10/29 that will feature a main event of Kurt Angle, Davey Richards, and Eddie Edwards taking on Alberto Dos Caras and two partners of his choosing.

Main Event: Steve Corino vs. Kurt Angle
Not quite the squash as the rest of the show. They trade holds back-and-forth to start and Angle easily dominates. Corino tries to mount a comeback, but Angle out-wrestles him to keep control. Corino finally quits playing nice and cheap-shots Angle on a corner-break. Corino works the neck over and JML brings up Angle's history of neck-injuries. They go to the outside and Corino body slams Angle on the concrete multiple times. Back in the ring and Corino mistimes a flying cross body and Angle gets his big comeback. Angle drops Corino with multiple suplexes and slams. Angle tries for the Olympic Slam, but his neck is hurt so he can't. Corino goes for a piledriver, but Angle fights out and hits the Olympic Slam out of nowhere to get the win.

Result: Kurt Angles win via pin w/ the Olympic Slam
Time: 10:42

- Kurt Angle celebrates in the ring and Alberto Dos Caras comes out with a chair. Angle challenges Dos Caras to get in the ring and Dos Caras starts to but then he gets cut off by Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards. They face off while in the ring Kurt Angle, out of nowhere, gets jumped by none other than Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas - Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team! They take out Angle and as Davey goes for the save, Eddie gets a chair-shot to the back! Dos Caras then takes out Davey Richards and in the end, Team Angle is left laid out and Dos Caras celebrates his victory with Benjamin and Haas to end the show.
